Instructions

  1. 1

Add vanilla syrup to the bottom of your cup.

  2. 2

Pull a double espresso directly onto the syrup and stir.

  3. 3

Steam the milk to about 140 °F with a fine, glossy texture.

  4. 4

Pour the milk in slowly, finishing with a quick wiggle for latte art.

Tips

  • Make vanilla syrup by simmering equal parts sugar and water with a split vanilla pod.
  • Milk steamed past 149 °F loses sweetness and tastes scalded.

Variations

  • Iced version: shake espresso and syrup with ice, then top with cold milk.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this without an espresso machine?+

Yes — a moka pot or a strong AeroPress concentrate works well as the coffee base.
